Skye's Life Adventure Is On

This photo was taken at Skye's graduation/going away party
last Friday night.
(Her brothers gave her a digital camera she had been wanting)

My baby girl has planned for this moment & has spread her wings beyond all she knows & loves. She will be spending the summer with lots of kids as a church camp counselor at Ridge Haven, NC.
It's her first summer on her own.
It is a great adventure:)
After she finishes this first adventure, she will return home briefly to catch her breath, then re-group, re-pack, & head to Appalachian State in August as a Junior:) I am so happy for her, am routing for her, am excited for her, but find it isn't easy to adjust to 'day to day' life without her.
But, I will.
Or, I've been told I will.
And I think I will?
In time.....
Right??

Riding Into the Sunset

My favorite TV drama is CSI: Las Vegas.
Last night, after an edgy storyline, Wark was shot to death.
I must admit I'm grieving the loss of this character.
Earlier in the week I had heard the actor, Gary Dourdan, was arrested recently for drug use.
It was a forewarning something would happen to his character on CSI:(

From the news report:
"CSI star Gary Dourdan was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin, cocaine and ecstasy and prescription drugs in Palm Springs Monday.
An officer found the actor, 41, asleep in his car, parked on the wrong side of the street, at 5:12 a.m.
The officer described Dourdan as “disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs,” according to a statement by the Palm Springs Police Department.
“The officer subsequently located suspected cocaine, heroin, ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs, and paraphernalia,” the statement continued."

Fame is fleeting.
Creative people are fragile.
So many actors cannot handle the limelight and ups and downs of the business. It's tough to hear, over and over, that another artistic person has fallen prey to addictions.

CSI writers! Let Wark wake up from that nightmare!
I'm not sure Gary can survive his CSI death:(

Sigh:(

The Lake Pine swans have given up on the nest this Spring:(
All the walkers, joggers, runners, bikers, are sad.
Maybe next year.....

A Rusty Rider

For those of you who are new to this page, this photo was taken on the American Tobacco Trail near Apex, NC.

Yesterday evening I finally took the plunge, borrowed a friend's bike to see if I could still ride, after 'countless' years, and headed to the Tobacco Trail to ride with Keith:) It's good to know I still can do it--although wobbly:( This was a boy's bike and I have short legs so it was a bit of a challenge. I'm not used to a bike seat either and this one was quite narrow, and that's all I'll say on that!
In spite of those comfy issues the ride was perfect! The old train bed is basically flat trail, the weather was in the high 60's (perfect biking temp.), and the honeysuckle and other flowering fragrances made the ride sweet:) We went over 4 miles; a good first ride for a rusty girl:)
A grand way to spend an evening:)

Saturday Fun With The Puppies:)

This is Three, our Westie grandpuppy.
She is spending this weekend with us.
Three's "mom & dad", Seth & Kelley, and her mom & dad are on a day mission to check out IKEA, in Virginia., for furniture for Seth & Kelley's new house:)What fun!

Three & Wyatt, our Bassett, are great buds, so they love to chase one another and wrestle one another and chew on each other--for hours!!
Right now Wyatt is sacked out in the living room and Three is sitting beside me watching the birds outside.
They are exhausted after playing since 6am!
It's a time of peace & quiet, as Seth would say.
Thank goodness there's a time for play AND a time for rest:)

Go Anna & Team

This photo is primarily for Anna, who wanted some "blog time":) She is our resident Hallmark fashion diva and is quite creative and talented. She completed her Masters in Dec. 2007 and is teaching middle school in Apex. Such a sweetheart & one of my heros:) She's the Card Expert Graduate here in red.
The other girls, pictured here with Anna, completed our Card Expert Training in April with flying colors, like the champs they are:) Teresa and Lauri and our manager Yvonne (not pictured) graduated as well. Way to go, 'Anna the dynamo', and all the Beaver Creek Hallmark "super staff"!
